Celebrating My Birthday at Baffle Haus: A First Visit to Bonvilston

Today, 2nd January, is my birthday, and I decided to celebrate it by ticking something off my bucket list. I finally visited the new Baffle Haus location in Bonvilston, just outside of Cardiff. It’s been on my radar for a while, and this was the perfect excuse to give it a try.

For those unfamiliar, the Baffle Haus brand was founded by a group of motorbike enthusiasts, including none other than Wales rugby union star George North and cricketer Andrew Salter. Their original spot in Monmouthshire, The Cedars, has been a hit since it opened a few years ago. Towards the end of 2024, they expanded with a second location in Bonvilston, making it even more accessible to those in and around Cardiff.

Easy to Find and Plenty of Parking

Finding the new Baffle Haus is a breeze. It’s located just north of Culverhouse Cross on the A48, between Cardiff and Cowbridge. Unlike my previous experience at The Cedars (which I mentioned in my blog about Hills Brecon), where parking issues forced us to leave, the Old Post in Bonvilston offers ample parking. There’s even an overflow car park adjacent to the main lot, making it a stress-free stop.

However, I did notice that the entry and exit to the car park are a bit bumpy. If you drive a lowered car like my Mini, it’s worth taking extra care to avoid any scrapes or damage.

A Perfect Pit Stop for Petrolheads

The new location promises to be a haven for bikers, petrolheads, and anyone looking for a unique place to hang out. From the moment we arrived, I was impressed by the space. The design is industrial yet welcoming, with quirky signage, a Porsche in the foyer, and a blend of metal and wood accents that exude coolness. There’s also a shop offering Baffle Haus merchandise for those who want to take a piece of the experience home.

    Breakfast at Baffle Haus

    Baffle Haus Menu

We arrived just after 10am on a Thursday, and while it wasn’t packed, there was already a good number of people enjoying the vibe. For breakfast, we ordered the Bacon, Egg & Cheese roll, which features Willis of Usk dry-cured bacon, a free-range egg, and a slice of American cheese, all served in a Nos Da Bakery challah bun for £6.50 each.

    Baffle Haus Breakfast

I don’t usually go for breakfast rolls, but the slice of cheese sold it for me, and I wasn’t disappointed. The roll was delicious – a perfect blend of flavours that hit the spot. Ordering was straightforward: you head to the counter, place your order, and receive a buzzer to collect your food from the aptly named ‘Fuel Station’.

    A Space Built for Community

The vibe at Baffle Haus is fantastic. It’s clear the team has put a lot of thought into creating a space where people can connect and enjoy themselves. The outdoor parking area looks ideal for car meets and events, and I’m already imagining the gatherings that will take place here. It’s the kind of place you’d dream of owning yourself, and I have to say, the team behind it is truly living the dream. Hats off to them!

    Final Thoughts

Baffle Haus in Bonvilston exceeded my expectations. It’s not just a pit stop; it’s a destination. Whether you’re a biker, a car enthusiast, or just someone looking for a great place to grab a bite and chill, it’s well worth a visit. I’m already looking forward to my next trip there – maybe for a lunch meet-up or even one of their future events.

If you haven’t been yet, make it a priority. Trust me, you won’t regret it. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be running a spot like this myself. For now, though, I’ll happily keep supporting the visionaries making it happen. Well done, Baffle Haus team!
