Ahead of the Rallye Rouergue Rodez Aveyron Occitanie this week (3–5 July 2025), Alpine revealed the A290 Rallye: the first electric rally car in its carbon‑neutral line-up designed for privateer racers. Developed by the Viry‑Châtillon team and built at Alpine’s Jean Rédélé competition workshop in Dieppe, the A290 Rallye celebrates Alpine’s 70th anniversary by providing a gateway to electric rallying while preserving the marque’s racing heritage.
Rooted in the road‑going A290 platform and compliant with current FIA rally regulations, the A290 Rallye is versatile enough for one‑make series and open rally events.
Alpine plans a one‑off national rally challenge in France later this year to welcome early adopters, enriched by full technical and sporting support, prizes for competitors, and a dedicated Alpine paddock with eco‑friendly charging facilities. Beyond this, customers can also enter the car in grassroots events.
The rally‑ready A290 features a welded FIA‑approved roll cage, Sabelt race seats, a 220 hp (160 kW) motor delivering 300 Nm via a ZF limited-slip differential, and upgraded gearbox and electronics.
Braking duties are handled by six‑piston front calipers on 350 mm discs, single‑piston rears on 280 mm discs, race‑spec ABS, and a hydraulic handbrake. Suspension has been tuned by ALP Racing, mounted on EVO Corse 8×18″ wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport A tyres.
In an innovative move to enrich the rally experience for teams and spectators, Alpine has integrated a sound system that emits a synthetic motor noise, dynamically linked to throttle and speed .
UK pricing for the fully assembled and painted A290 Rallye is expected around £51,600 (equivalent to €59,990 excluding VAT).
Following its reveal, the A290 Rallye will make its first dynamic appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (10–13 July), before being featured at the Rallye Mont‑Blanc Morzine (4–6 September)
