The Nürburgring is set to introduce a new exit at Döttinger Höhe on the Nordschleife, designed to reduce congestion during busy tourist driving days. This third exit will allow drivers to directly access the L93 road after completing a lap, helping to ease traffic on the track and in nearby Nürburg. Construction will begin in November 2024, with the project expected to be completed for the start of the 2025 season.
Ingo Böder, CEO of Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG, highlighted this development as a major step forward for the track’s traffic optimisation efforts. The new exit will only be available on high-traffic days, supplementing the existing options, which include the main Nordschleife exit and the popular Pitstop Area at T13 for driver breaks.
This initiative builds upon recent changes, including new entry and exit rules that improve traffic flow. Tourist drivers will still enter via the L93 roundabout, with ticket checks at the gate. The newly introduced restrictions on parking have also helped reduce congestion from non-drivers.
The Nürburgring will use the new exit to continue promoting responsible driving behaviour, aligning with its “Be a Role Model!” campaign, which encourages respect for both the track and the local community.
Tourist drives at the Nürburgring are open to anyone with a road-legal car or motorcycle and a valid driver’s licence. Laps on the Nordschleife cost €30 on weekdays and €35 on weekends, while a season pass offers unlimited access for €3,000.
