New analysis has found that Barry is the easiest place to pass your driving test in Wales.

The study by  A-Plan Insurance examined the pass rate percentage of each major driving test centres in Wales – since April 2020 – to determine the one with the highest pass rate.

Barry came out with the highest percentage of pass rates out of all test centres in the Wales. This test centre has an average pass rate of 64.78%, when analysing the passes of all tests from April 2020 to June 2021 – of 1096 tests conducted, 710 were passed.

Placing second is Llantrisant, coming in just below Barry with a pass rate of 64%. Llantrisant test centre has assessed 2,089 prospective drivers since April 2021, deeming 1,345 of them ready to drive.

Brecon is Wales’ third easiest test centre for someone to pass their driving test with a success rate of 64%.

Cardiff, Wales’s capital, just misses out on a spot in the top 10 easiest areas to pass your driving test, with a pass rate of 57.42%, which puts it in 12th.

Swansea places quite low down on the list of test centres in Wales, with an average pass rate of 54%. Residents taking their driving test in Swansea have just over a 50% chance of passing

The lowest pass rate in Wales belongs to Wrexham, where 48% of the tests taken since April 2020 have been passed.

In total between April 2020 and June 2021, the 19 Welsh test centres included in the analysis conducted 48,472 tests, of which 27,549 were passed – a success rate of 56.83%.

Commenting on the figures, a spokesperson for A-Plan Insurance said: “With taking a driving test being a crucial step in the lives of many people, it’s interesting to see how varied your results can be depending on where you live – statistically, passing a test in Wrexham is considerably harder than it is in Barry.”
