If you’ve been following the Mini Clubman JCW journey on Cornered, you’ll know this car has been through quite the transformation—from subtle mods to full-on bespoke Japanese spoilers. And now, it might just be finished. I think. Maybe. Possibly…
Let’s rewind a little.
A while back, I splashed out nearly £2,000 on a GIOMIC spoiler imported from Japan (yes, really), and if you missed that drama, you can catch up on it here: How I Spent Nearly £2,000 on a Spoiler – and Why It Was Totally Worth It.
What I didn’t mention at the time, though, was that I threw a little something else into that order to make the most of the painful shipping costs: a GIOMIC bonnet scoop.

Now, before you say it, yes—I already had a fully functional carbon scoop thanks to the Eventuri carbon intake. So I wasn’t sure whether the GIOMIC one would even work in tandem or end up being a very expensive dud (£510 before shipping and taxes, by the way). Thankfully, it did work. Cue huge sigh of relief.

When the spoiler was fitted, I had the bonnet scoop colour-coded to the Mini’s White Silver paintwork. Fitting it was pretty straightforward, though I left that to the professionals since they were already elbow-deep fitting the spoiler.

If you’ve got an eagle eye and scanned through the recent photos, you may have spotted it already—though I didn’t draw attention to it. It’s a neat-looking scoop, don’t get me wrong. But for a while, it just looked stuck on. Like an afterthought. Very “aftermarket”. I almost ripped it back off.
So, enter my brother-in-law Daoud (@thatsignguyuk), who previously wrapped the roof and spoiler. He’s back, wrap knife in hand, to try and tie the scoop into the car’s newly blue identity.

Luckily, he had some wrap left over from the last round of customisation. We decided to run the stripe design down over the scoop, rounding it off with a finish that, honestly, I’m quite chuffed with. It feels intentional now. Less bolt-on, more built-in.

We’re still not 100% sold on how the lighter blue stripes play around the scoop’s curves, but it’s wrapped in a way that lets us easily lift it off if we fancy a change. We’ve even left the original line that drops down to the Mini logo, just in case we decide to follow the OEM-style look that stops at the scoop’s edge.

Oh, and he didn’t stop there—Daoud also wrapped the side scuttle inserts. If we go for a full colour change there in the future, it might need a paint job, but for now, I’m happy to leave it as is. It ties in nicely with the rest of the look.
So, back to the big question: does this finally complete the transformation of the Mini Clubman JCW from red to blue?

Honestly… it might. I mean, until the next idea hits me. The addition of the raised scoop definitely keeps that aggressive, sporty edge—something I was worried about losing after removing the splitter and side skirts (read about that here: Less is More – Why I’m De-Modifying My Mini Clubman JCW).
It’s been a bit of a journey, from performance parts to styling tweaks, and now with this latest change, I think the Clubman finally feels cohesive again. Aggressive yet refined. Custom, but not cartoonish.
What do you think? Has the wrap saga reached its finale—or are we just between chapters?
