Alpine is set to make a strong statement in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) as it embarks on its second season in the Hypercar category with the A424. Having made impressive strides in its debut season, the French manufacturer is looking to build on its successes and challenge for podium finishes in one of motorsport’s most demanding disciplines.
A424 Hypercar: The Evolution Continues
The Alpine A424, the brand’s LMDh Hypercar, represents a blend of Alpine’s racing DNA and advanced engineering. Developed in collaboration with Oreca, the A424 features a 3.4-litre V6 turbocharged engine combined with a hybrid system. The car demonstrated competitive pace in 2024, securing a podium at the 6 Hours of Fuji and multiple top-five finishes. With further refinements heading into 2025, Alpine aims to close the gap to the leading Hypercar teams.
Strong Driver Line-Up for 2025
Alpine Endurance Team has confirmed a formidable line-up for its two entries. The #35 car will be driven by Paul-Loup Chatin, Charles Milesi, and Ferdinand Habsburg, a trio that has already proven their synergy and pace. The #36 car will feature Mick Schumacher, Jules Gounon—who has been promoted from a reserve role—and endurance racing veteran Frédéric Makowiecki.
Matthieu Vaxiviere will continue as Alpine’s reserve driver, ensuring stability and experience within the squad. Team Principal Philippe Sinault expressed confidence in the continuity of the team, stating: “With four drivers returning and two strong additions, we believe we have a competitive package to fight at the front.”
Alpine’s Motorsport Heritage
Founded in 1955 by Jean Rédélé, Alpine has a rich motorsport history spanning rallying, endurance racing, and Formula 1. The brand’s greatest endurance racing triumph came in 1978 when it won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. More recently, Alpine dominated the LMP2 category, winning three Le Mans titles and two world championships before stepping up to Hypercar competition in 2024.
The 2025 FIA WEC Calendar
The 2025 WEC season will feature eight races across four continents, with highlights including the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 14-15), the 6 Hours of São Paulo (July 13), and the season finale at the 8 Hours of Bahrain (November 8). Alpine is aiming to improve on its fourth-place finish in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship and consistently fight at the front.

Bruno Famin, VP of Alpine Motorsports, is optimistic about the team’s trajectory: “2024 was a learning year, and we ended the season strong. The Hypercar regulations demand attention to detail, and we have been working tirelessly to extract every ounce of performance from the A424.”
