Porsche has unveiled the latest additions to its Taycan lineup, introducing three new models that enhance the electric sports car’s performance and versatility. The new Taycan GTS, available as both a sports saloon and a Sport Turismo, builds upon Porsche’s Gran Turismo Sport legacy, offering a balance of everyday usability and dynamic driving. Additionally, the entry-level Taycan sports saloon now features all-wheel drive for the first time, broadening its appeal.
The Taycan range now encompasses 16 variants, including three body styles—sports saloon, Cross Turismo, and Sport Turismo—with both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options. Power outputs span from 300 to 760 kW, catering to a diverse array of driving preferences. The newly introduced models are available for order, with deliveries expected to commence in early 2025. Porsche has also expanded the Taycan’s colour palette, adding Slate Grey Neo and Pale Blue Metallic to the Legends category, and Purple Sky Metallic to the Dreams category.
Kevin Giek, Vice President of the Taycan model line, stated, “With the extremely wide-ranging Taycan line-up, we meet a wide range of customer wishes and mobility needs. Our three latest innovations exemplify this exceptional breadth.” He highlighted the Taycan GTS’s position between the Taycan 4S and Taycan Turbo, and noted that the Taycan 4 sports saloon combines the efficiency of the base model with the enhanced handling of all-wheel drive.
These new models incorporate the comprehensive updates Porsche implemented at the beginning of 2024, which include a sharper design, increased power, extended range, and improved charging performance. The enhancements are attributed to several factors: an advanced powertrain featuring a new rear-axle motor delivering up to 80 kW more power than its predecessor, an optimised pulse inverter with updated software, more powerful batteries, refined thermal management, a next-generation heat pump, and an improved recuperation and all-wheel-drive strategy. At 800-volt DC charging stations, the Taycan can now charge at up to 320 kW, reducing charging times and enhancing convenience.
The Taycan GTS stands out with its sporty character, offering up to 515 kW of overboost power when using Launch Control—75 kW more than its predecessor. The standard Sport Chrono package introduces a push-to-pass function, providing a 10-second boost of up to 70 kW at the touch of a button. This feature enhances acceleration, with the Taycan GTS sports saloon and Taycan GTS Sport Turismo reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.3 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than their predecessors. The range has also improved by over 120 kilometres, now offering up to 628 kilometres in the WLTP cycle.
Design-wise, the Taycan GTS features distinctive black or anthracite grey elements, including Sport Design front and rear aprons with black high-gloss inlays and black high-gloss exterior mirror bases. The interior boasts extended Race-Tex materials and smooth black leather elements, with standard features such as Adaptive Sports Seats Plus with 18-way electric adjustment, a GT multifunction sports steering wheel with mode switch and heating, and the Sport Chrono package. The partial leather interior is available in Slate Grey or a two-tone Black/Chalk Beige combination.
With these additions, Porsche continues to expand the Taycan’s versatility and performance, solidifying its position in the electric sports car market.
